The Abimis Ego kitchen blends monolithic form with an ergonomic workflow, creating a sculptural centerpiece for a prestigious Dubai home.
On the exclusive Jumeirah Bay Island, where the azure of the Arabian Gulf meets the striking Dubai skyline, a contemporary villa by Tehila Shelef Studio stands as a testament to architectural fluidity and refined living. Characterized by pristine materials, a natural color palette, and interiors bathed in light, the residence is a harmonious dialogue between structure and landscape. At the heart of this luminous home, commanding the ground floor, lies a bespoke Ego kitchen by Abimis—a sculptural yet functional masterpiece engineered for both intimate family life and grand entertaining.
Engineered for a Chef, Designed for the Home
The vision for the kitchen was clear: to merge professional-grade performance with an aesthetic of understated elegance. Abimis’ Ego collection, a collaboration with designer Alberto Torsello, was a natural fit. Its design DNA is a sophisticated nod to mid-century aesthetics, distinguished by clean, flowing lines and meticulous detailing. The bevelled, flush-set doors integrate seamlessly into the kitchen’s structure, their presence defined only by the subtle gleam of custom brass handles. This precision is further exemplified by the patented invisible hinges, which contribute to the kitchen’s monolithic and seamless appearance.
Orchestrating the Space: A Layout for Living
Crafted as the central nexus of the open-plan living area, the kitchen’s layout is orchestrated around a grand monolithic island. This generously proportioned workspace, which incorporates an integrated dining table, is designed for an ergonomic workflow, housing multiple cooking systems. Above it, a long professional-grade ventilation hood makes a statement, ensuring functionality without compromising the room’s airy volume.
Flanking this central element, two linear compositions are dedicated to washing and preparation zones, artfully separated by a climate-controlled wine cellar. These modules are strategically placed beneath expansive windows that frame breathtaking sea views. Adjacent to the island, a full-height wall system conceals state-of-the-art ovens, refrigeration, and ample storage, maintaining the space’s uncluttered aesthetic.
The Tactile Dialogue of Steel and Marble
The entire kitchen is constructed from AISI 304 stainless steel, an austenitic alloy prized in professional environments for its exceptional durability, hygienic properties, and corrosion resistance. Abimis elevates this industrial material through a precious, hand-finished orbital polishing technique. This meticulous process imparts a deep, matte finish to the steel, rendering it remarkably soft to the touch and adept at minimizing the visibility of fingerprints and stains.
The materiality is further enriched by the selection of a robust marble for the countertops and cladding, its natural veining providing a warm, organic counterpoint to the cool precision of the steel. This juxtaposition of materials, along with the bespoke brass hardware, underscores the extensive customization possibilities that define the Abimis philosophy—where every kitchen is conceived and fabricated as a unique response to the client’s needs and the architectural context. It is a philosophy that has propelled the brand onto the global stage, making it a benchmark for those who refuse to compromise on either performance or beauty in the domestic heart of the home.
