The historic Piedmontese festival returns with a packed schedule of masterclasses, international promotion, and high-profile partnerships, from professional tennis to the historic Palio.
From sports to mixology, from regional gastronomic experiences to pure tastings and masterclasses: the versatility of Asti Docg is once again the focus of the 59th edition of the Douja d’Or, the historic wine festival that will fill the center of Asti from September 12th to 21st for a ten-day event, this year located in Piazza San Secondo.
Exclusive Tastings and Pairings
Kicking off the initiatives by the Consorzio Asti Docg on Monday, September 15th, from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM, will be “La bollicina dell’Asti spumante stappa il sapore del mare” (The bubble of Asti spumante uncorks the flavor of the sea), a refined pairing of oysters, Asti Spumante Metodo Classico, and Strevi Doc. The events continue on Saturday, September 20th (from 9:00 PM to 10:00 PM) with “Il Viaggio Temporale del Canelli DOCG” (The Time Journey of Canelli DOCG), a vertical tasting of four different vintages of Canelli Docg accompanied by local products. Each masterclass will conclude with a tasting of the Galup peach and yogurt panettone to sweetly end the summer season.
From the Vineyard to the Tennis Court
Furthermore, for the entire duration of the Douja d’Or, the Consorzio Asti Docg will set up “Il nostro terreno di gioco” (Our playing field), a tennis-themed tasting area with Asti Spumante and Moscato d’Asti, as well as cocktail proposals. The trophy of the ATP Finals in tennis (Turin, November 9-16), of which the consortium is the official sparkling wine and silver partner, will also be on display.
An International Stage
“The Asti September, culminating with the Douja d’Or, has always been a privileged showcase for promoting our territory, capable of attracting a constantly growing national and international audience,” comments Giacomo Pondini, director of the Consorzio Asti Docg. “It is also an important opportunity to raise awareness of our denomination, which this year we will further enhance by also hosting a group of operators from Italy and the United States. This is an important signal given the difficult international context.”
