Cesar Kitchens: Exploring Fluidity and Material Innovation

Italian kitchen manufacturer Cesar continues its exploration of contemporary design with the introduction of the Tangram project and the Nuance finish. Tangram, a collaboration with Garcia Cumini, introduces a novel concept of sinuosity to kitchen design, moving beyond traditional linearity through modular curved elements. Complementing this fluid aesthetic, the Nuance finish showcases Cesar’s commitment to material innovation, employing nuanced color palettes on glass to create sophisticated visual and tactile experiences, now extending its application from worktops to vertical cabinetry.

Cesar N-Elle Nuance

The study of textural and chromatic diversity continues to be at the centre of the collaboration between Cesar and the Garcia Cumini studio. This project, which embraces contrasts, moves effortlessly from airy lightness to tactile depth, with a sophisticated and exclusive palette that is constantly evolving and ranges from lighter hues to deeper and bolder tones, applied to increasingly unique and innovative surfaces. The result is a collection of distinctive finishes that use texture and colour to enhance tactile and visual perceptions.

This design journey continues with an important development: the Nuance finish now applied not only to kitchen worktops, but also to vertical cabinetry. It is through this new interpretation and study of abstract visual language that Cesar and the Garcia Cumini studio apply nuances of colour to glass.
Inspired by the delicate glasswork of the previous century, Nuance creates movement through colour, capturing the fluid nature of frosted glass, which combines depth and translucency and is known for its soft and silky texture.

One of the most interesting applications of the Nuance finish, originally introduced on the Tangram island worktop, can now be admired on both the horizontal and vertical surfaces of the N_Elle island, characterised by sophisticated details and bold lines. Nuance exalts the shifting gradients of colour in this monolithic piece, creating elegant visual effects in a sophisticated shade, for a clientele that seeks true originality.

Thus, Nuance now further expands its options for customising N_Elle, a solution which already offers a wealth of choices, ranging from wood finishes to solid-colour laminates and glossy lacquers, all the way to ceramic, terrazzo, and natural stone.

Cesar Tangram

‘The Tangram project, designed for Cesar, allowed us to bring a part of our design concept to the world of kitchens as well. In addition to the multi-functional nature of the projects designed up until now with Tangram, we were also able to introduce a fluidity and dynamism that’s certainly rather uncommon in this sector.’ explain Vicente Garcia and Cinzia Cumini

‘The contours have been softened thanks to the newly designed modules, a challenging element in an industrial system, but the kind that Cesar loves to take on. The rounded shapes are based on variable radii to create a sinuous and fluid outline that not only makes the product unique, but also contributes to conceiving these spaces from a different perspective, with a freer design style that liberates itself of the rectangular concept.’

The Tangram project exalts the curve and its infinite possible combinations.
Inspired by the ancient Chinese game of geometric shapes that can be combined with one another to create endless figures, Cesar’s product echoes modular logic while avoiding linearity and introducing a new concept of sinuosity to kitchen design.

Adapting to various needs, its eccentric shapes aren’t made up of simple semicircles or portions of circles, but rather follow a soft and variable radius: in some points, for example, the shapes get smaller to take up less space and make it easier to get by.
Tangram is made up five curved elements that can be combined with straight elements at will, to build kitchen islands with unusual shapes, compositions set against the wall, or even solutions that wrap around corners.

To accentuate Tangram’s fluidity, the cabinet door features a special decorative detail upon request: a three-dimensional element called Groove, made up of a sequence of vertical incisions which create an irregular pattern, designed to hide the joint between modules and ensure a unitary perception of the arrangement.

The irregular contour, the alternation between full and empty spaces, and the play of light and shadows conceal the openings of the doors, thus contributing to the final camouflaged effect.
The same look of continuous sinuosity is created by the Macaron detail present along the edge of the stone worktop, which recalls a traditional drip-saving groove, making the rounded edge (created by hand using ancient techniques) both functional and aesthetically pleasing.

To enhance every detail of the project, the new Oi and Accento handles are available, designed to fit into the three-dimensional grooves of the cabinet doors. Furthermore, the Tangram cupboard completes the collection, available as a wall element or in a two-faced version, which can also be used in the living room or dining room, helping to create fluidity and continuity in the transition between these environments.
The overall collection adds an absolutely original, contemporary, and feminine touch to the home.

Finishes: silk-effect lacquers, structured lacquers, Anodyc metallic-effect lacquers, wood.

Cesar Nuance & Groove su Tangram

One of the most interesting applications of the Nuance finish and the oak Groove door can be admired in the new worktops and doors for the Tangram collection, one of the latest projects by Garcia Cumini. Nuance makes it possible to create highly elegant visual effects, exalting the sophisticated variations in colour of the Tangram island and appealing to a clientele that seeks originality. Meanwhile, the Groove door, with its interplay of positive and negative space, creates a chiaroscuro effect that helps to camouflage and conceal the openings of the doors.

Complementing the Tangram island is The 50’s double-sided system, now available in a new corner solution introduced by Cesar to meet the growing demand for fluid and flexible spaces. Available in both wall-mounted and double-sided versions, this corner structure is perfect for the kitchen, dining room, living room, or any other space that one may wish to subdivide with a “wall” made of furniture that can be easily transformed and adapted over time.
