The Rhythm of Form, The Precision of Light: A New Vision by Contardi

Contardi Lighting, synonymous with lighting excellence, unveils Alma: the first collection for the brand designed by Controvento, the design studio and multidisciplinary collective founded by Gabriele Chiave in 2022.

The collection, available in floor, table, and various pendant versions, represents a delicate interweaving of two universes: Contardi’s technical expertise and boundless innovation fused with the creative poetry and dreamlike vision of the design collective.

Alma combines two timeless classics—the fabric shade and the blown glass bubble in which it is immersed—to create a floating, contemporary effect. With three sculptural glass shapes—Alma Nova (spherical), Alma Aura (ellipsoidal), and Alma Lume (vertical)—the collection explores versatility through arrangements ranging from single installations to striking compositions of light. Each element is designed to transform light into a poetic and surprising presence, redefining any space with elegance.

‘We wanted to combine two handcrafted elements, the fabric lampshade and the blown glass bubble, to create a dialogue between tradition and innovation. The idea was to bring out the magic of two classic materials, which are rediscovered and transformed together, giving life to a poetic and equally innovative light, able to excite and surprise,’ explains Gabriele Chiave, Co-founder and Creative Director of Controvento.

The collection expresses a perfect harmony between technological performance and creative sensitivity. The innovative lampshade technology integrates LEDs directly into the structure, completely concealing the light source. This technical solution that allows the lampshade to be illuminated without the use of visible bulbs, a refined optical illusion that emphasises the object’s minimalist design.

Moreover, several elements can be interwoven with each other, creating evocative luminous totems and suspended modular compositions: true light sculptures with a strong scenic impact, capable of being transformed into unique and customisable works.

The three glass shapes—Nova, Aura, and Lume—are available in three refined finishes: Amber, Plum, and Smoke (Fumé). The frame is offered in Golden Nickel, adding further elegance and warmth to the collection.
