Island Elegance: Bespoke Stainless Steel Kitchen by Abimis Graces a Virgin Islands Residence

In an exclusive Virgin Islands villa, Abimis’s Ego line redefines high-performance living. Two custom steel kitchens, meticulously crafted from orbitally polished stainless steel, exemplify precision engineering. This seamless integration of indoor and outdoor culinary spaces, utilizing advanced materials like marine-grade AISI 316, showcases a sophisticated design approach that harmonizes functional integrity with aesthetic refinement, tailored for the unique Caribbean environment.

The Ego line was chosen for both the indoor and outdoor spaces of the villa, in two special, customised configurations.

A place outside of time, a silent peace interrupted only by the muffled sound of the sea. The pristine landscapes of the Virgin Islands are home to a spacious private villa, which houses two distinct Ego kitchens by Abimis, the bespoke design line created by Alberto Torsello.

The stainless steel, which has been orbitally polished by hand and selected for both compositions, absorbs and reflects the warm colours of the Caribbean residence, with its ceiling punctuated by exposed wooden beams, neutral-toned flooring, and expansive openings that blur the boundaries between indoors and out.

Seamless Indoor-Outdoor Flow

Designed as an open-plan space extending towards the crystalline sea, the living room is bathed in natural light, which also flows into the kitchen area. Here, the configuration comprises wall units and a central island, equipped with a sink and induction hob integrated into the Cipollino Verde marble top, its vein pattern reminiscent of the rich tropical vegetation of the location.

A signature element of the Ego collection, the ring handles are in polished stainless steel and create a delightful contrast with the satin finish structure in an elegant decorative touch. They allow the opening of doors and drawers, with rounded corners and bevelled flush edges, customised with drawers, fixed and pull-out shelves, and compartments. The recessed plinth facilitates movement during the preparation phases and allows for the full depth of the work area to be utilised.

To complete the island, the tall units therefore include additional functional equipment such as the refrigerator, double oven, wine cellar, and vacuum drawer, along with the larder.

The Enduring Charm of a Custom Steel Kitchen

Also ideal for outdoor use thanks to the immutable nature of AISI 316 stainless steel – resistant to marine environments and the corrosive effects of salt air – Ego was also chosen to build the kitchen on the large open-air terrace, shown here with an extensive wall-mounted configuration, again orbitally polished by hand, in continuity with the interior.

It includes a Wolf barbecue with a lid, a customised sink integrated into the worktop, and refrigerated drawers to ensure proper food preservation and preparations outdoors. The ensemble is then completed by a wooden shelf and A_ppeso, part of Abimis’s A_ccessori line, a highly customisable steel bar equipped with hooks for hanging utensils and pots.

About Abimis: Crafting Professional-Grade Domestic Kitchens

Stainless steel completely defines its DNA, softened by light and sinuous details and precious finishes, made by hand. Abimis bases its ‘genetics’ on AISI 304, a material which has featured alongside its name since 2013 for the creation of kitchens entirely devoted to the domestic world but with all the tools, technologies and construction rules of professional catering.

Stainless steel is thus rewritten in a new aesthetic code – elegant and identifying – which takes the name of Ego, the symbolic model of the brand, with totally customisable features. Abimis has experienced a rapid evolution in internationalization in just a few years and is now present in all global markets, from the United States to the Middle East, Europe and the Far East, appreciated and selected for its excellent products.
