Lema Expands its Global Presence with New Showroom in India

Lema’s expansion into the vibrant Indian market marks a significant strategic move, culminating in the opening of a flagship showroom in Hyderabad. This new space represents not merely a retail outlet, but a carefully curated dialogue between Lema’s signature Italian design language and the rich tapestry of Indian aesthetics.

Collaborating with Artyk and Aamir Hameeda‘s architectural expertise, Lema has conceived a showroom that transcends mere product display, evolving into an immersive experience that celebrates the art of living.

Design Principles: Weaving a Narrative of Cultural Harmony

The design principles driving this project center on a cultural synthesis, where the showroom’s architecture, material palette, and curated product selection weave a cohesive narrative that resonates with the discerning Indian consumer while remaining true to Lema’s foundational values of elegance, practicality, and bespoke solutions.

The interplay between established Indian architectural motifs and modern Italian design spotlights the specific design decisions contributing to a distinctive and captivating retail experience. The red and black columns running through the building echo traditional motifs, the raw concrete ceilings emphasize the materiality of the spaces, while the warm colors and bold combinations reflect India’s vibrant aesthetic mood. Large glass windows open the space to the surrounding greenery, blurring the boundaries between indoors and outdoors.

Showroom Journey: Exploring Domestic Life

The showroom journey unfolds across four areas exploring different moments of domestic life: living, sharing, and resting. Within the unique context of the Indian metropolis, the dramatic entrance leads through an exhibition path that gradually transitions to softer, more harmonious atmospheres.

The Living Area: A Blend of Exotic Allure and Sculptural Modernity

The space perfectly balances grandeur and intimacy. At the heart of the showroom is the In Between table, designed by Ximi Li, its marble top appearing to float above a two-dimensional base. This functional sculpture harmoniously interacts with the Fred chairs by Norm Architects, which combine solid wood and brass details to deliver unexpected comfort and sophisticated design.

As the exhibition path continues, the living area’s atmosphere is enhanced by paintings adorning the wall behind the sofa, lending the space an exotic allure. The delicate brushstrokes and intense colors, paired with the clean and essential lines of the furnishings, evoke a journey through time and space, reflecting a unique blend of contemporary design and cultural references.

The area is anchored by the Yard sofa by Francesco Rota, whose minimalist lines and enveloping cushions invite relaxation. The Alton armchairs by David Lopez Quincoces, with their embracing metal structure, reinterpret the concept of sculptural furniture. In front of the sofa, the Oydo coffee table by Francesco Rota adds a touch of lightness to the living space, while Sign by Studio Kairos, a refined coffee table positioned between the sofa and armchairs, completes the ensemble. On the opposite side, the LT40 modular system, designed by David Lopez Quincoces, seamlessly combines aesthetics and versatility, serving as a sophisticated divider between spaces.

The Dining Area: Where Elegance Meets Dynamism

The LT40 system guides into the third area of the showroom, blending the elegance of a second living zone with the dynamic character of the dining area. At the center, two Jermyn leather sofas in brown, designed by Gordon Guillaumier, face each other, creating an inviting space for conversation and relaxation. Complementing this setup are the Drum coffee tables by Piero Lissoni, featuring a fluted wooden structure that adds a playful functionality to the space.

Flanking the sofas are the Flowers coffee table by Roberto Lazzeroni and the Francis coffee table by Norm Architects, offering a striking contrast in style. The former, inspired by the 1950s, introduces a dynamic and colorful touch, while the latter, with its monolithic circular form reminiscent of Cappadocia’s natural formations, contributes a minimalist and contemporary expressiveness. The Bice armchairs by Roberto Lazzeroni, with their bronzed metal frames and vintage design, fit seamlessly into the environment, creating a cozy and elegant corner alongside Lazzeroni’s complementary tables.

At the center of the dining space, the Gullwing table by Gabriele and Oscar Buratti takes the spotlight with its marble top and sculptural metal base. The Bai Lu chairs, designed by Neri & Hu and inspired by oriental perfection, complete the dining area with their signature curved backrests. Behind the table, the Selecta bookcase by Officinadesign Lema transforms into a vibrant wall, an ode to personalization and dynamism. Natural light interacts with glass surfaces, casting reflections that amplify the poetic quality of the space.

A Celebration of Italian Style and Indian Heritage

The new showroom is a tribute to the dialogue between cultures. Lema’s clean and sophisticated aesthetic intertwines with architectural details honoring Indian traditions, creating a space where modernity and heritage coexist harmoniously. The exhibition path perfectly reflects Lema’s philosophy, which sees the home not only as a place for rest but as an expression of personality, a space where every detail is designed to provide comfort and functionality without sacrificing aesthetics.

With this new opening, Lema showcases its ability to adapt to diverse contexts, respecting their culture and traditions while staying true to its identity. The Hyderabad showroom is envisioned as a hub for architects, designers, and design enthusiasts, offering them the opportunity to explore how Italian design can transform living spaces into experiences of beauty and comfort.
