10 Top Producers Lead Amarone’s Grand Debut in Naples

To celebrate its 100th anniversary, the renowned wine consortium makes its southern debut with “Napoli in Rosso Amarone,” a grand tasting at the sea-front Palazzo Petrucci on October 14.

In a strategic move to expand its Italian footprint, the Valpolicella Wine Consortium is taking its celebrated red wines south, hosting its first-ever event in Naples. The prestigious “Napoli in Rosso Amarone” is set for October 14th at the stunning Palazzo Petrucci, a gastronomic destination with dramatic views of the sea from its Posillipo perch.

The event marks a significant milestone for the Consortium, which celebrates its centenary this year. It aims to bring the story and terroir of one of Italy’s most famous wine regions to the vibrant southern city. The spotlight will be on the entire spectrum of the appellation’s renowned reds, from the iconic Amarone—the region’s powerful standard-bearer—to classic Valpolicella, rich Ripasso, and the luscious, sweet Recioto.

The Main Event: A Walk-Around Tasting

Organized in collaboration with the Campania chapter of the Italian Sommelier Association (AIS), “Napoli in Rosso Amarone” is centered on a walk-around tasting with 10 of the region’s representative producers. An array of labels will be poured, finding a classic counterpoint in another Italian icon: the celebrated Parmigiano Reggiano, an official partner of the event.

The producers pouring at the tasting include historic and modern benchmarks of the region: Albino Armani nel vino dal 1607, Camerani – Adalia, Domìni Veneti, La Romiglia, Nicolis, Pasqua Vigneti e Cantine, Roccolo Callisto, Secondo Marco, Zeni 1870, and Zýmē di Celestino Gaspari.

A Deeper Dive: The Masterclass

For those seeking a deeper dive, the day will also feature an exclusive masterclass titled, “From Valpolicella to Amarone: A Breathtaking Climb.” This guided tasting will showcase wines from Camerani – Adalia, Domìni Veneti, Pasqua Vigneti e Cantine, Roccolo Callisto, Secondo Marco, Seiterre Viticoltori dal 1877, Zeni 1870, and Zýmē di Celestino Gaspari.
